What Is It:
Microdermabrasion is a simple, yet effective non-invasive, skin resurfacing procedure that gently exfoliates or polishes away the top layer of dead skin cells, while stimulating collagen growth.
It will reveal new, healthy skin cells and leave your skin looking smoother and fresher. With regular sessions the treatment can improve the appearance of melasma, acne scarring, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, dull skin, sun damage, and other conditions and concerns relating to your skin. Products such as moisturisers, creams and lotions are more easily absorbed and therefore more effective after microdermabrasion treatment. This is a painless, low-risk skin treatment that can be added to your beauty routine.
What To Expect During Treatment:
Many people find the treatment relaxing. All that can be felt is a gentle vacuum like suction on the skin as the equipment is moved across the face. You can expect minimal discomfort during the session but may, however, depending on each individual’s skin tolerance, experience temporary bruising/redness once the procedure is over. Sensitivity to the area being treated could last up to 10 days.*
What Areas Can Be Improved & Results:
Microdermabrasion treatment can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, superficial blemishes and marks, improve congested skin, mild pigmentation problems and generally become part of an anti-ageing treatment routine.
Microdermabrasion for acne scars can be good but we do not recommend microdermabrasion treatment if you have active acne as the process can spread the acne bacteria throughout the face. Your consultation will be an opportunity to explore treatment solutions based on your exact needs.
Microdermabrasion isn’t suitable for darker skin tones as they are more prone to pigmentation. If you have a darker skin tone, your practitioner might suggest Microneedling as a great alternative to achieve clearer, fresher skin. If you have lighter skin and want a fresher, clearer, brighter look, microdermabrasion is for you.
It is suitable for the face and most areas of the body. Popular areas for treatment include the face, neck and chest.
