"Because we're not here for a patchy complexion...!".
What Is It:
There are two main types of pigmentation – (hyper)pigmentation, which appears as darker areas of skin and (hypo)pigmentation which appears as lighter areas of skin.
Hyperpigmentation is primarily caused by an overproduction of melanin, which is the pigment that is responsible for giving the skin its colour. When exposed to excess amounts of sunlight, the production of melanin can increase and create patches of skin that are uneven and darker in tone. This is why hyperpigmentation is often noticed on the face, hands, arms and shoulders. However, there is some evidence that hyperpigmentation can also be related to hormonal changes particularly during pregnancy, which may be why hyperpigmentation more often occurs in women than men.
Hypopigmentation is usually caused by some disruption to the surface of the skin, as a result of injury or trauma such as burns, scalds and scars.
Depending on whether you are experiencing hyper or hypo pigmentation, as well as the underlying cause of your condition, the course of treatment will differ.
During your consultation, our experts will discuss with you any changes that may have occurred and impacted your skin tone, and will be able to recommend an appropriate treatment for you.
The dark spots caused by chronic sun exposure can be two types: lentigo or melasma. Melasma, which generally affects women, especially those with darker skin types, primarily appears as a results of hormonal changes. This type of hyperpigmentation normally appears on the forehead, cheeks, upper lip and chin areas. Lentigines, usually caused by the effects of UV Light, also appear due to skins ageing process. These are localised well defined spots.
MeLine is the only brand specializing in hyperpigmentation treatment. Meline have developed separate products to treat both melasma and lentigines. Each product contains a specific combination of ingredients in specific concentrations.
The MeLine hyperpigmentation treatment process is described as ‘controlled chemical dermabrasion’ and is a customised process that uses the application of MeLine’s specially formulated peel mask to lift away the top layer of dead skin cells. The MeLine process includes three steps: preparation, peel and then a programme of prescribed aftercare products to use at home. These products are designed to control pigmentation, decrease melanin production, promote renewal of skin cells, improve sun damage and even out the tone and colour of the skin - helping you maintain your after peel complexion!
What To Expect During Treatment:
MeLine uses a controlled dermabrasion process during which various chemical agents peel away the top layer of dead skin cells:
Step 1: The skin is primed with a cleanser and degreaser
Step 2: The ME LINE Prep is applied left on the skin before it’s removed and the skin rinsed.
Step 3: The ME LINE Peel is applied with a thicker layer over areas requiring attention (e.g. hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne).
Step 4: You will be given the aftercare regime, which includes a gentle wash, ME LINE products and a recommendation for sunscreen.
Step 5: After 4 weeks* (*dependant on your chosen ME LINE treatment) you will return for a repeat ME LINE peel.
The Clinic process usually takes just over an hour to complete, and your Skin Care Professional will typically stay in the room to ensure there are no adverse reactions as it dries.
Depending on the peel, most people feel a warm sensation and tingling! The amount of tingling will vary based on the type of MeLine peel you are receiving and will differ case to case (e.g. you might be more sensitive than another person getting the same peel).
Post procedure, the skin will become red and flaky but in general you can expect minimal discomfort during the session but may, however, depending on each individual’s skin tolerance, experience temporary redness once the procedure is over. The skin shedding process normally begins about 48 hours after application and will last for 3-4 days.*

MELINE CAUCASIAN AND ETHNIC PEELS
MeLine offers a unique and innovative approach to depigmenting treatments to reduce and control hyperpigmentation disorders such as melasma, brown spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on the face and body. Free of hydroquinone, these clinically approved face peels can effectively and safely treat Caucasian functioning skins as well as Ethnic functioning skins. A proper evaluation by your skin professional will determine your hyperpigmentation treatment plan. MeLine peels also help improve your skin texture, thus diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, acne scars and mild acne. MeLine peels consist of a first phase being an in-clinic treatment and the second phase being an extension of the first phase; a professional grade protocol at home. This method is what results in 70-80% reduction of melasma after one complete protocol according to clinical studies.
MELINE DARK CIRCLES
Being first depigmenting protocol for dark circles, the MeLine Dark Circles will brighten the skin around your eyes, including the upper lids. In the same approach as for face peels, the results of the in-clinic treatments will be optimized by the professional home use protocol that will not only continue working on the pigmentation of the dark circles, but also provide excellent results against puffiness and dilated capillaries that often result in vascular circles. In addition, the skin texture is improved, helping reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and increasing firmness of the delicate skin around the eyes. A proper evaluation by your skin professional will determine your treatment plan.
MELINE INTRADERMAL SPOT TREATMENT
MeLine IntraDermal Treatment is a solution designed to target pigments in your deeper layer, the dermis. Depending of the severity of the pigmentation, the length of time it has been present in the skin, pigmentation can be deeply rooted. The MeLine E IntraDermal Solution can reach that deeper layer by microneedling or injection. The proper treatment plan will be suggested to you upon evaluation. This treatment is quite unique on the market and has anti-aging benefits as the ingredients used stimulate production of new collagen as well as reducing pigmentation. The MeLine IntraDermal Treatment can also be combined with the MeLine peels in a specific treatment plan when working on pigmentation present in superficial and deeper layers of the skin. The best approach will be determined by your skin professional.
